Licence, updates and diagnostics

For dedicated and on-premise installs: licence, check-in, updates and support files.

On a dedicated or on-premise CloseDesk, admins of the install manage it from Settings → System.

Licence

  1. Enter your Licence key (it looks like CD-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX) and press Fetch licence online.
  2. For a server without internet, ask CloseDesk for a .cdlic file and press Upload licence file.

A new install runs as a 14-day trial. When a licence ends there are 14 days of grace, and then CloseDesk becomes read-only until a new licence is added. Nothing is deleted.

Check-in and updates

  • Once a day the install tells CloseDesk its version and how many companies and people it has, and gets back the current licence and news of updates. Press Check in now to do it straight away.
  • When an update is offered, install it from the same page. CloseDesk takes a backup first and puts the old version back if the update fails.
  • Servers without internet receive licences and updates as files.

Diagnostics

When something is wrong, press Download diagnostics and send the file to CloseDesk support. It describes the server and the install and holds no names, emails, passwords or close data.

The install guide for IT teams is in docs/deployment.md in the CloseDesk package.
