A close is one period’s checklist for one company, such as November 2026. Each task sits on a close day from WD-3 to WD10, dated from the close’s first working day (WD1), skipping weekends and holidays. Staff managers and admins create and delete closes.
Create a close
- Go to Closes and press New close.
- Check the Period name and First working day (WD1). CloseDesk suggests the next ones.
- If you have several companies, tick the Companies to create it in, or All companies. Each company gets its own close from its own template, roles and calendar.
- Under Start from, pick a template, copy the latest close, or start blank.
- Check the preview and press Create close.
At a quarter, half-year or year end, CloseDesk adds the tasks marked for those period ends, following each company’s fiscal year. The preview tells you which period end it is.
Work through a close
- Closes lists every task of every close. Filter by company and close, and by Open, Overdue, To review or Signed off.
- Press Open close to see one close day by day: the percentage signed off, counts in review, in progress, blocked and overdue, and a strip of close days with today marked.
- Filter a close by Blocked, Recon alerts or Waiting on a person.
Add tasks
- Add task adds a checklist task: give it a functional area, a working day (or a statutory due date), and what it depends on. Choose Reconciliation as the type for a GL-to-subledger reconciliation.
- Ad hoc task adds one-off work, such as replying to a GST notice, with its own due date. It isn’t copied into templates or the next close.
- Save checklist as template (from a close’s Settings) turns this close’s tasks into a template for next time.
Statutory tasks, such as GSTR-3B on the 20th, use their legal date and move to the next or previous working day when it falls on a holiday, as set in the close schedule.
